Natural disasters and their cause

The forest fires in Australia was a recent natural disaster which shook the world and deeply affected the air quality of the country and a big portion of nature was also destroyed which was appalling for both the economy and the ecosystem. The signs of the forest fire started to appear in October 2019 due to prolonged droughts around the country. With time a state of emergency was declared in Queensland and New South Wales in November and slowly the state of emergency was applied to the other states as well. Also known as black summer, the Australian forest fires were deemed as one of the biggest natural disasters.

The locust attack which affected the crops and food production of East Africa, India and the Middle East caused food crises in some countries. The earthquakes in China, India, Iran, Philippines, Russia, Turkey and the Caribbean which caused 41 deaths in turkey and 45 major earthquakes were categorized over 6 degrees on the Richter scale. Russia and Jamaica have faced earthquakes with a reading of 7 magnitudes and were the worst-hit countries.

The occurrence of these natural disasters lately is the doing of man, as many mines dug deep underground have affected the tectonic plates which disrupted the balance and caused major earthquakes throughout Asia. The depleting cold in Antarctica has caused the rapid formation of snow algae, if you look at it from the space, green spots can be seen. The sudden change in climate due to the pollutants from industries and the formation carbon dioxide, causing the greenhouse effect (The greenhouse effect is the process by which radiation from the Earth’s atmosphere warms the planet's surface to a temperature above what it would be without this atmosphere, radioactive gases in the Earth’s atmosphere will radiate energy in all directions.) has increased Earth’s temperature has made it possible for the locusts to breed which made them migrate in search of food and destroyed several countries food supplies, this has been called one of the worst pest attacks in almost 26 years. The worldwide lockdown has helped nature as human activity has substantially depleted which has caused less pollution this year and nature got time to recover itself.

If we spread awareness and use our resources properly, there will be no need for nature to do so. We can teach the importance of nature to the future generation so they can help with the great cause and help save Nature.
